Hi, my p38 has a coil spring conversion. its seems to be sagging on the drivers side rear corner, the gap bbetween the wheel and the arch is definately less than the rest.

Anyway as its on coil springs, is it the springs or the shocks? or both!

I was thinking of replacing the shocksanyway, as the last mot mentioned misting oil on all four of them.

The next question is, if its the springs, I'm not sure which conversion it is, are the springs from different manufactures the same size?

The joys of coil springing. Now where do you get one single spring to replace the weak one. Better still where do you get a pair as they should only be fitted in at least pairs. Bet you can only get them in full sets.:D:D:D
 
To be honest I'd rather replace all four, the other 3 don't look too hot.

The question is where to get them from, and are there any differences, i.e. spring diameter.
 
Yeah I would change them all, its not difficult so why not. I'm sure if you got in touch with Rimmers, Paddock or any of the other suppliers they would sort you out or take off 1 front and 1 back spring and go to your local motor factors, they should be able to order decent springs (B**tpart are crap), good chance to change the shocks, I will be putting on adjustable Koni shocks after reading another thread on here.
P.S: Be prepared for slagging by the EAS brigade ha ha.

There are arguments for and against coils. Its personal choice based on what you hear or want yourself. Costs are about the same for air springs against coils. £220 gets you a full set of Dunlops and provided the pump and everything is still there then it should be a case of reconnecting them once the switch disabling device has been removed. Coils are fine but good shockers are crucial as you can get instability problems with coils if you put on cheapos or leave the old ones on alongside new springs. I have seen/ had dealings with several flipped P38s running on coils. :rolly: (I know its a series in the pic but the point's the same).
I have tried remaining on the fence here but may just have put one foot over to one side. ;)

if you look at PARTSRANGE on ebay or online,they have a nearly new set for sale.;)
