Considering doing a lift on me Disco. Old springs and shocks are weary and smelly and old. Are we all in agreement that Terra Firma gear is the way to go or is there something better? Mainly road use with some green lane and occasional P&P. Don't want to spend the earth as I didn't win the lottery last night.

I just went for the Bearmach HD springs (as got HD bumpers, winch etc) and kept the original shocks.

I went for 1" raise, however with the old springs being knackered I reckon standard height would have given a lift!

After a while I did wish that I had gone the 2" route, but easily sorted with 1" spacers.

All runs well and am pleased with the Bearmach springs

I put Terra Ferma 2" lift on mine Heavy Duty as i will be towing teh caravan and putting a winch on at some point.

Ride is Ok ( i have a series so can't be as bad as that )

good upgrade me thinks

No rear ARB - crushed the mounting bracket on some rocky green lane. I'm also considering removing the front for that bit more articulation. This has nowhere near the flexibility that my old RRC had. Now torn between light and medium. I don't tow or carry much and it's generally only me or me + passenger. Decisions, decisions ...:confused::confused: Thinking towards light but could be swayed ...

Light should give a better ride and more traction offroad or when greenlaning, but if you do more onroad miles I'd suggest medium for better road manners and sacrifice a little grip offroad. To be fair though, many people wouldn't notice the difference.

Having read your last post you make it sound, however, that laning is important so that'd sway me back towards a light set-up.

If you get +2" dampers, don't forget to check the bump stops and +2" brake hoses, you might not need them, but mostly you will .. ;)

Whats the best suspension for epic suspension flex like this?
