Hello am new to this forum but here goes.

I had a lovely discovery 1 K reg called louise who was full of mod's and then I wrote it off rolling back down a hill that was just too damm steep!!

Have now got a new L plate discovery 1 and want to put a very flashy large suspension kit on her. I had a two inch lift on the last on but want around 5" or bigger on this one, but am very confused at what i need such as spacers, lift blocks, extenders ect, I understand anything over 3" you need to extend various things and that is fine as long as I know what!!!

Have been looking at the following .... 5 Super-Lift Kit - As Fitted to Our Defender BBC Top Gears Range Rover

Please Help ....

awww it will cause ya endless problems withthe drive gear ohhh and welcome by the way

:welcome2:

have a word with mm there good guys and know there stuff they have that kit fitted on the 90, there tells you all the ins and outs of the kit;)

but as robint sed its putting large amounts of stress on drive trains

but if you fancy i 5" lift go for it ;) i know i would if had loads of cash :p

unless youve got mega bucks dont bother

just put a 2 inch lift on and a 1.5 inch body lift, you should be able to do both without any issues

Thanks for the help if i was to do it as "V8 Disco" said with maybe a two" lift kit then 1.5" body lift would that then equal 3.5" of lift?
How does a body lift work where does it go ect????
Thanks

Totally agree with the other posters, don't go over 2" on your suspension lift or you'll have no end of troubles. As well as propshalf issues, anything more than 2" and you'd need castor correcting front "hockey stick" arms too.

Also you want to be careful with kits, all that is expensive is not necessarily good. A mate of mine had a +4" max traction kit on his 90 which actually made it worse off-road, he's back on standard springs and shocks now.

...............and just as a matter of interest, why would you want a 5" lift? What do you plan to do with it?

This level of lift will raise the centre of gravity of the vehicle such that on ordinary roads at normal speeds you may well create an instability in the vehicle which could make it dangerous.

And you want this because it looks flashy???? Dangerous thinking this is :cool::cool:

For 60% road use and 40% off roading, green laning around the farm and messing about! I understand it will raise the center of gravity and make the vehicle less stable but I know someone with a 7" lift and he dosn't have many problems :D Also i am looking into an external roll cage after rolling the last one anyway!

Oh dear +1 !! When I first starting reading this thread I thought Oh dear, but now it has been confirmed.

Do not get in the way of this person, they are ready to roll their vehicle.

Would've thought something like the below statement but easier!:D

I'll help! leave it as is - drop some decent tyres on it, then learn to drive!

a rollcage and a massive lift = crap driver, a slightly modded disco will do almost everything anyway (winch, tyres etc)

Thanks for all your opnions about me and my driving but at the end of the day it is my decison! Thanks for everyone with posotive feedback for me!

Hi Louise?

I put a heavy duty 2" kit (springs and shocks) on my classic, so i could keep the brooklands kit and still go across the rough stuff. I also replaced all the links and anti-roll bar bushes and so far have had no issues with handling or props........the only thing you need to think about (for your own safety) as mentioned before is how you drive it after you shift the nearly two tons 5 inches (if you do it) higher in the air....we would only seek to offer advice based on personal experience and possibly misfortune hoping we can save you the horror of looking to see if all in the car are okay.

Cheers, Nick.

hello there,

on my search about infos to the mm superlift kit i found your forum...

my name is chris and i´m from germany... i bet you know this by the first words... :)
whats the problem with this kit? ok, it´s a massiv lift... i know. but for this price, it includes all i need to drive... or is this wrong? there are radius arms, custom propshafts etc...
you wrote that the drivetrain (?) would´t work? can you explain this?

sorry for my bad english but i hope you understand me...
actually i drive 2" terrafirma springs with terrafirma sport shocks... works good but after i built a frontpumper with winch, the car... oh my god i dont know how to say this... it´s not so high like before... you know?

i´m really glad for infos... here in germany are not a lot of land rover parts dealers... and there only lift kits like trailmaster or ome;
this is the reason why i search in england...

greats chris
