hi,

ive got an l series freelander that i have been running on veg for about 3 months now.

i dont know if its anything to do with that but it seems to be really gutsy compared to what ive been reading about people getting 30-40mpg.

i ran out of veg this week and filled up with £30 of diesel (24ltrs) and travelled 75 miles and now i need to put more fuel in. i worked it out on one of the online mpg calculators and it come back that im doing 15mpg!!

is there anything i can do or check to see what might causing this?

any help would be great

cheers atb

Definitely sounds like a leak. Around town I get 34 MPG.

Have you been using 100% veggie or a mix? If its 100%, veggie does tend to 'sludge things up' so the pump and injectors might not like it too much. You might get some better advice on the of Tratter forums, not many Freelander owners run on veggie - although I'm considering it.

favourite leak point is the naff fuel return pipes on the injectors. Ive had three freelander L's they all were leaking here from where the little rubber pipes had gone hard and then fractured.

I've been running a mix last few weeks about 50/50
I'll definitely check the return pipes.
Does anyone knoweth inside diameter of the pipe might just change them anyway

That's right, I've read on here that the L Series is fine but veggie shouldn't be used in the TD4 - to do with the different pump/injection systems.

Sorted nice one
Will get some tomorrow hopefully and change it even if it's not split. At least it ticks one thing off

Changed leak off pipes totally old ones weren't in best shape.
