If you haven't seen them already, Vanstyle on Ebay do a set of tailored shades for the P38 that clip in to the frames of all the rear windows including the tailgate. They are £76 but they will combine postage if a couple of people ordered (or, as I was doing, you order for 2 different cars).

Land Rover Range Rover 5dr 95-02 CAR SUN SHADES BLINDS | eBay

I wanted tints or shades, but only to darken the interior of the car when going on long trips so the kids could watch a film or play on their handheld games consoles. I thought about tints and figured they'd look nicer, but to have it done properly is a little expensive. So I figured I'd take a chance on these.

They arrived this morning. They come in a storage bag too that you put them back in when not using them (ie in Winter). They were fitted in minutes and from outside the car, you really cannot tell that they are not tints. From inside the car, as you'd expect, they darken the rear enough to keep the kids happy.

The big advantage of these over tints are that you can lower the window to let air in, but still have shade. You can also remove them in seconds and store in the bag so they aren't on for winter - or are only on for long trips.

I was skeptical, but for the cost I am more than happy with them and if you were thinking of tints, maybe you should consider these instead.

2 photos attached, but as the camera compensates for lighting, you don't really get the full effect :)

I might be being a bit dumb but do they fit to the tailgate too? Or are they just for the side windows? I'm thinking about the dogs, I have factory tints but think a little more on the tailgate might be advantageous.

Yes, they do cover the tailgate glass. You would be able to tell if I took a picture with them on and off but it's bright yet overcast so difficult to photo. They look, from the outside, just like limo tints. From the inside they do make a difference, yet you can easily see through them for reversing...

Might have a look into them, as I'm presently using the cheaper version on side windows and even over factory tints I still get a decent view.

I'm very intrested in these nik I'm just about to get mine tinted can you tell me honestly what quality the blinds are? And the material could a couple of dogs pull them off easy ? With out braking clips are clips sturdy any info would help me decide I think I need to get may Laptop and get a better look could you take some of the inside clips/ brackets please

Hmm, they look interesting, I am put off by tinting as it'd be prohibitive expensive. Thanks for the heads up on these.

Quality is fine. Nice and thick. They are easy to unclip (they have a tag to pull) and the quaterlight and tailgate fit really well. If it were me, I'd maybe look at fitting extra clips to the rear doors as these use 2 self-adhesive clips at the top and nothing at the bottom (springiness holds it in place). I'd fit clips at the bottom too.

I'd say if a dog jumped up at one, it could pull off and possibly snag. So I wouldn't say they were pet-proof, but they are good quality and kid proof.

Some more photos showing the self-adhesive clips on the doors and the proper trim clips on the tailgate. The tailgate comes in 2 sections for storage and clips together too.

HTH, Nik

Thank you very much I'm going to order some:)

I will take the tailgate one off when dogs are in it they look good

Better than £200 and can be sold if needed at a later date .

How much did they cost in the end? I recently had the old tints removed from my car and new factory spec tints put on for £150.
