I have had nothing but trouble with the factory fitted showers, tried a reseal that helped but still water leaked in,yes the drains are OK.
Anyway after deciding that we dont get enough sun to make them a useful asset,I decided to put them where they belong in the scrap bin, that was good I was left with two big holes in the roof, cure was to contact Cut Plastics for two Polycarbonate 4mm panels, these have been fitted with Sika marine adhesive/sealer and closed end pop rivets,RESULT I no longer have to wear waterproofs to drive the thing but still have windows to watch for police chopers, stars.and UFOs.
A very simple fix but well worth while.

Does anyone ever open their sunroofs? They are a total waste of space.
I do :) but only once or twice a year to clean out the muck that builds up around the edge.
I’ve never wanted them, I didn’t have the option to not have them fitted with my D1 which was the first of my vehicles to have a sunroof. Sunroofs are an option on the modern vehicles I own/owned.

If you read my letter, you would see that nthis had already been tried

I did read your post, that’s why I could reply to it, but as the glass seal Is rubber and is easily replaced with another, and the other, the frame seal is out of a tube, so that’s as simples as it gets.

Found them very handy when my air con compressor decided to leak. I had previously sealed the frames to the body, fixed the plastic drains and put genuine seals in and they do not leak.

Yes we changed both seals and still water came in,I can only suspect the the frame has been damaged in the past.

Ill be starting my sunroofs in the next few weeks. the front one is fine, opens and doesn't leek. the back on leeks and doesn't work. but I uses these for the dogs to keep cool so I will be repairing them and refitting both once the head lining is out as I wont want to do it twice.
Ill let you know when I get started.

Cheers

My front one leaks at times. I put some sealant around the exterior where it meets the roof panel and the leak has slowed down considerably. I do use my sunroof when the weather allows, but find the glass rattles something chronic because the little rubber ring thingy is missing off the guide pin on the driver's side. I need to find a fix or replacement before I go (more) insane, or the bloody glass breaks.
