my sunroof has now been sorted in the past I had brought a complete sunroof which was rusty as hell so I sent it back, and I put up with the problem since the day I brought it from Stratstones (Hanley) the usual banter of them oh! it is not under warranty the sun roof is not. so I decided to do it my self first I took the motor out and replaced the final gear on it as the clicking had made the gear a lot smaller than it should be , after trying that it was not better so I decided to take the sunroof out this meant taking the roof felting out it was not a bad job the worse of it was nursing my back, then out with the sunroof and I had to put it in the wife's garage because I discovered the rails and cables were not really good and had to order some they cam next day and I put them on and job was a good one it operated like it should have done in the beginning ,I noted on the rails it said oil them so every couple of months I will put a tiny drop of oil on them
so in future no messing about with second hand sunroofs I will go for the new rails total cost around £200 all in ,now just recovering with my back.

You can get repair kits on ebay that have the cogs etc for the rails.
As you say, bit of light oil, or silicon spray, grease causes too much drag.

Hi Teddywood, glad to hear that you have sorted out your sunroof. Perhaps as you have had it all to bits, you can shed some light onto my sunroof problem.......where exactly are the drain points? It says in the service schedule to clear the drain tubes each service......but I can't see where to clean?

Are they on the vertical , or on the horizontal ....ie on the side of the sunroof apeture or on the floor/lip where the slides are?

if you wind your roof back and look down on the sunroof look into the drivers side and then the passengers side in the two corners nearest the windscreen you should see a hole and on this a plastic tube fits and take and excess water down and out where the wheels are

Ahhhh there is a blob of something that looks a bit like silkaflex near each front corner.....That must be it....if I wiggle some strimmer cord there, I will se if I can get it to go down. Also, the rubber seal is semi perished, is it easy to replace this seal, as I have seen them for sale on Fleabay? I have also read about applying vaseline to bring it back to life, does that work?
