i hv a p38 m reg 4.6 seems to be drinking more fuel than usual and occassionally when i switch of and walk past i smell fuel any suggestion welcome or its going lol

ive had a look as well as i can and cant see or feel a leak i hv replaced ht leads as mine looked the org 1s and not great il change the plugs shortly i must admit i dont really travel far (cant at the moment as im lucky to do 36miles on 20 quid lol ) theres not a constant smell of fuel and dosent happen every trip

My Classic smelt of petrol at the back of the car. It had done this for some time but I could never trace where the smell was coming from.

Turned out that the fuel pipes had corroded where they passed over the chassis rail above the rear axle.

I found out what the source of the leak was after £40 of petrol had been dumped over the road!

um great lol well i feel i may as well drive down the rd and chuck £20 notes out the window wouldnt be so bad if i had an endless supply :)

Mine was drinking a load of fuel and could smell fuel strongly, turned out to be the lambda sensors.. If they're not working properly you could have unburnt fuel in the cats..

Don't the fuel pipes corrode above the tank at the sender?

I think mine are gone here, as the MOT tester could smell fuel from that area but couldn't find any leaks - he was a bit miffed as he really wanted to fail it.

umm a few things i can try waste of time goin to a garage round here as they hate the p38 they norm charge me £200 just to walk in
