Hello fine folks,
I have been enjoying the landrover immensely including towing the caravan.... until the weekend that is..
The landy developed a heating problem culminating in the wife being stuck on the A5 I topped up the water and thought there may be an air blockage in the system....
I cured that and it ran fine after parking it for two days without moving it i tow the caravan back down the A5 and the temp goes up to the red .. I pull over and see steam pouring out of a hose which i believe to be part of the heating system.. i repair that and drive off after an hour to let it cool and top up the water.... not five miles goes and the temp goes back into the red....
I pull up and get green flag to take me back to base where he diagnoses a head gasket
there is pressure in the system but no bubbles in the expansion tank or any sign of oil and water mixing in the oil cap...
Could it be the water pump thats going as under more investigation the top hose was very cool to the touch coming from the radiator to the thermo housing while all the other hoses were extremely hot,,,
Any advice gratefully appreciated....
