Well after buying my D2 V8 and then being told by my local LR specialist it needs more than £2k's worth of work doing I decided, with great support on here to tackle the jobs myself, which included:

1. Front renewal of ACE Ram and torsion bar as bushes were shot - I found a second hand one on ebay fully functional for £40 delivered, my ACE is now working again even though the system bled itself after a few twisty turns :D One comment though if you decide to do this job yourself get someone to help you as its a proper bitch to do on your own, as I found out, took me an hour to hook back in the torsion bar brackets

2. Full brake rebuild front and rear, I replaced the front discs and pads, a very easy and straight forward job once you've done one, well worth doing yourself and saving a few quid :)

My next challenge is the rocker cover and inlet manifold gaskets, along with possible coil pack renewal as there is a definite misfire, sure its firing only on 4 cylinders lol !

Now, i've been quoted £250 to do this job as I have all the parts and sounds very tempting, but I have come this far I may take up this challenge :)

other than oil / plugs / leads service its pretty much there and ready for the MOT ?

In total i've spent just over £300 on parts (ACE actuator £80) but saved circa the same on labour and VAT.

All in all i'm happy I stuck with it and considering i've hardly lifted a spanner historically i'm well chuffed...

Morale of this story...........don't be afraid to have a go :clap2:

Thanks to all memebers who given me advice thus far :clap2:

Good on ya. I'm in the same boat experience wise but keen to learn as well. Discs and pads first on the list

When you've done the first one, the rest are obviously the same. I did the rears including removing and replacing in less than an hour, which included a cuppa
