Sounds like you will get one of your circuits back up and running and appreciate the problem working outside at this time of the year, (all of my P38 repairs, to date, have been undertaken during the past 6 weeks so I am grateful that we have had a unseasonal winter so far)!

With regards to your 'background', (whilst unsure of your age), I will just say 'Pye 205' to see if that invokes any fond memories - of some terrible circui! designs!

I would run up the board in my workshop, (warm and easy access t tea, coffee, beer and biscuits - but not necessarily in that order), or at the very least make up a lead to run the amp from the car whilst the amp is located on a comfortable bench in the garage/kitchen!

Meanwhile, in an attempt to bring my post back in line to the subject matter of this particular post here is a picture of my, (temporary), alternative sunroof drain - just as a final check before I replace my carpet and trim later in the week: -

If the boot remains dry after another storm I will start to reassemble the rear carpets and trim later in the week!

I managed to find time to scrub all of the remaining pillar trims in readiness for their being recovered - with the same material that I will use for the headlining.

I also gave the engine another scrub, (in an attempt to get rid of the many traces of thick clay that covered the engine and all of the components under the bonnet), but it still remains - anybody suggest anything that will shift the mud??

Despite all of the additional soapy water, (and copious amounts of sprayed water), the engine happily bursts into life enthusiastically), at the first turn of the key - as usual!

Ah the memories . . .

Silenium Rectifiers, 405 lines, black and white tv sets, the Thorn combined synchronised Line Output Stage and Power Supply, (SYCLOPS), checking for ht on the anode capt of PL509 valves, the first TV chassis's with built in PRESTEL, mechanical remote controls, the early Grundig chassis with real ultrasonic remote controls, the first Phillips VCR's, tube changes, (goggles and leather aprons), tube rejuvenators, 470khz and 10.7mhz IF frequencies . .. .

Some really fond memories but I bailed out and diverted into geophysics in Africa and medical physics in the States.

Excellent grounding for the P38 electronics though!
