Hi
I have started to notice that there is a momentary stutter of the engine whilst I accelerate in my 1999 TD5 Defender.
It feels as though there is water in the fuel.
I will drain the fuel filter, but does anyone have any different ideas.
Thanks.

Funny that this thread has came up as I have just fixed my problem which was something similar but mainly when I was pulling away as it seems sluggish and about to cut out. Also on accelerating it did feel like it was lacking power. It turned out to be a diesel feed to one of my injectors, the screw was loose and sucking in air.

Had similar probs with egr valves on other vehicles, stutter is a slow/ abrupt moving valve letting go.

I should check that oil is not seeping down the loom into your ecu, pull the plug out of the ecu and look for evidence of oil.
