Some Guy

Wonder if anyone can help as not having much luck searching other posts. Just fitted a new flange to the rear axle of my lifted Discovery 300tdi to replace the self destructing rubber flange. A mate sold me a 200tdi prop and I've been getting some vibration at 50-60mph. So I whipped it off and have been trying to seperate the two sections just to try to get it working freely and to check the splines are aligned properly.

I just can't get the sod apart. In a vice using a crow bar as a lever I can just force it to give about an inch of very stiff movement. With the rubber seal off and greasegun on the grease is only seeping out of one small area as if only one spline is getting a dab of grease to the very front. The front of the female part has nasty grit around it and my mate is a very keen wader so I fear the whole thing might be full of grit (is this possible?). I've tried a bit of careful heat which didn't help much.

Any thoughts lads and lassies?

if you mean seperating the two bits of prop, i had to do that on me 3 and after securing one end to me barn i tied the other end to the back of the jag and drove forward.
on inspection it wur fooked and i got a replacment fer it. so you might be aswell to just bin it and save yer self some time

Hi-ho, wouldn't be simple would it! Thanks anyway lads. Oh, I liked (or rather winced at) your amazing bouncing balls of steel men link Slob - oh ye fecker, it's got to hurt.
