That looks like peat bog to me. If so he'll need to spread the weight. Hessian sacks will just sink down. Ideally winching rearwards or lifting and chocking under the front wheels are the 2 only real options. If he's lucky he may be able to get a waffle board under the sunken wheel and get enough traction of that to get it moving.
 
your only 300 miles from me but think you mite be cheaper finding the local farmer or asking in the pub
