Guys, a bit of advice please
Looking to change my 1998 4.6 HSE petrol for a 99 4.6 with LPG, , the only problem is the seller says it is stuck in high ratio and won't select low? Although he says it not the transfer box as he's selected low manually underneath the car ? Turning pin?
Has anyone heard of that ? The car itself is a Vogue 50 limited edition

Cheers

Chris

Bull****. Low/Hi are selected by a motor. There ain't no pin to turn unless he has had motor out and turned shaft by hand.

this might make me look stupid, but I thought my p38 was stuck in high for 2 days, as I didn't realise you have to click the button under the lever twice to get it to move across,

I tried all sorts then realised my mistake, could it be something so simple?

if not forgive my reply and I await the flak with my anti flak jacket on :D

As Wammers said you can turn the hi/lo range shaft in transfer box manually if hi/lo motor is out. If you can select lo manually the mechanism in transfer box is OK but it doesn't necessary means that the transfer box is in good conditions (chain, bearings, output shaft etc.). If you can't select lo with the gearbox lever (auto box) than the hi/lo motor is probably broken, or the transfer box ecu or both.
