Evening all. After changing bearings and seals on the series 3 box it is in permanent 4wd. I've taken the output housing off and everything looks as the the book says it should and the shafts move freely in the housing, no sticky or rusty ones. Is there something obvious I've missed or anyone else had this issue any help greatly appreciated

high gear is located by a thrust washer and circip, the taper bearing that goes on and fits up to the circlip can be pushed over circlip and jam high gear as you add preload at the other end speedo housing, the bearing should have a square face were it fits up to the circlip many now replacement bearings have a chamfer which is the issue, remove sump and see if this is the case and high gear wont spin freely or have any freeplay

Cheers for the reply. I'll jack her up tomorrow and have a gander. I'll post some pictures to show what's going on in there

Take the cover off the selector shafts at the front out put and check shaft protrusions are correct.
Could be the linkage out of place between the selector shafts.

Update on the 4wd issue. It's resolved itself. Either that or I have magic pixies in the landy. Had another look today and it seems to be working. Took it round the farm in 4wd then 2wd and it seems to select fine no idea what caused it bit as always I appreciate the ongoing assistance
