After filling right up now the gauge on my Freelander 1 TD4 is stuck on full. Im supposing the float in the tank is stuck but any ideas how to free it. Spent all my money on filling it up!!!

Possibly the float is stuck in the highest position and a good thump might free it off.
I don't know if the unit is accessible without dropping the tank so you might be better posting this on the Freelander forum.
If only to avoid the abuse you're likely to get....

Keep a can of spare diesel in the vehicle, run the tank low, find a bumpy road and drive....

Thinking about it my youngest had a similar issue with his Seat Leon estate. Sorted itself after a bit of driving around as the level dropped.

All great replies. cheers guys. It is get at able as there is an inspection plate under the rear seat but its attached to the in tank pump and that needs a special? tool to remove it. Have a great bumpy track near by so am heading for that in a while.
