I've currently got a snapped glow in the leon. It's still in one piece and sealed, but the nut bit just came right off, hardly gave it any pressure. Must have been put on well tight in the factory. Since it's all working, i'm going to leave it till it dies ;)

I watched an apprentice fit a spark plug with an air gun!!!
A lad I went to college with believed the tighter you do up plugs the more power they give you because it'll take up more space in the head, increasing compression. He did them up so tight 2 snapped.

What a knob head. Everybody knows it's silicone coolant hoses that give you more power. :D:D:D

That and Ripspeed aluminium accessories.
:)

ripspeed still going?

thought they died years ago..
used to buy my racing mini bits from his shop till he sold out..

has anyone mentioned good copper grease on the threads of new plugs?

maybe the copper gives a better electrickery spark. just like the over tightening knobhead thought..

I think they mostly make gearstick knobs, tyre valve dust covers and tax disc holders now.

Oh yeah serious power from polished alloy rocker covers and header tanks. Should it not be Ripoff?:D:D:D

True, it is mostly Ripsped and Hipspeed parts now. Usually with instructions that have 2 pictures and appalling Engrish translations.

Aye and they have been pedalling the daft tax disc holders ever since.

Yeah but you do get seven days to return them to the manufacturer. "Hand came yoo 2 ear gawantea" :D:D:D

Keith Rip (who I used to know quite well) sold the business and trademark to Halfords - which was great timing as the business had already started falling off markedly as youngsters stopped modifying cars as much.
;)
I now know Steve, as I looked him up.
had Xtreme at Harlow with his boys for a couple of years before moving on again..
while they were there, a couple of brothers I used to work with were good mates of the rip brothers,
kept me up to speed on what they got up too :)

kieth must be as old as me? now..
