well my engine was knocking so i dropped the sump, checked all the shells one by one ,
the last one the bracket was a 4ker too get off , trying too get it back on is a problem as one of the bolts are bent .
(on the shells its self there is slight scoring , nothing much ).
ive took the oil pump out and the middle big end .
so basicaly in the sump i found half of dipstick(not off mine) and a con rod bearing shell. (not one of mine)
i am hopeing that what i found in the sump could of been the cause of the knocking.
so all i need now is too put it back together but can,t get the brackety thing on ,bent bolt, or get the bent bolt out
So the bolt that holds the bridge shaped thing, that in turn has the bearing shell in it, is bent?
If so, it must have come loose and hit something, probably the block, to bend it.
Have you tried hitting it with an ammer? You are a Brummie after all. Failing that, you might have to saw off the threaded bit and bash the rest out with a drift. Any chance of a pic.
So, you've got the bottom shell carrier off. Can you lift the con rod up from the crank to replace the top shell? If so, can't you just refit the bottom half and bolt it back together using the existing bolt. I'm struggling to understand how it got bent. If you try lifting the con rod up, make sure the piston is at the bottom of it stroke to give you a bit more room.
its the shell carrier i am trying too get back on , the bolt is bent so it dont line uo too get back on , i cant get it out too replace it with the new ones
