Ok so realising that it was time to change the manifold/inlet manifold gasket thing on me 1962 S2a 88" petrol I have hit a problem,, one of the studs in the cylinder head has rusted to bugger and is also quite partial to staying put.... Any ideas on getting this out???? I did try to use the search feature on the forums but it don't seem to work...... So ummmmm any ideas ???

yer say its rusted to the head?

if you have got the nut off you don't need to remove the stud otherwise lots of wd40 or gt85 leave it overnight then try and apply a bit of heat to the nut.

Read somewhere that diesel fuel is good at penetrating rusted threads, doesn't dry out as quickly as WD-40.

Good luck.

wd 40 is not a proper penetrating fluid...try plus gas its worth the extra money...heat would make a difference though (not straight ontop of the plus gas though!)

If you get a new stud somewhere (i got some off ebay) jam an old socket on and try that. Put it might snap and have to re-tap it (like we had to, but we were expectin it anyway :D)
