Time for a daft question which I can’t find an answer for

Am replacing rear stub axles on 1994 Defender 90

The replacements have arrived heavily coated in white grease - presumably to protect in storage

Should this be removed with say, brake cleaner before fitting?

Many thanks

on the gasket face otherwise it doesnt matter
and nice to see you again:)
Many thanks James - will just clean up face and leave coating on rest for protection

Hope all good with you - haven’t done much for the Landy lately other than change fuel tank. Just replacing all discs etc and found tear stubs very pitted (not leaking) so thought should swap out whilst at it
