Hi everyone,

Im Jamie

Just thought it would be nice to introduce myself before i beg you for your help.

Im really struggling to get my head around refitting a front stub axle on a 1989 110. Ive managed to get everything off ok but when ive started to fit the new one ive noticed when i tighten up the bolts on the stub axle the shaft sticking through goes very tight and wont allow me to move it at all. Prior to bolting it up it can be moved freely.

Is this right or should the half shaft be able to move freely once the stub axles on?

Thanks

Hi i once had the same problem doing a wheel bearing by torchlight and tightened the hub nuts & the whole stub locked up.
Reason being i had forgot to put the big spacer washer back in maybe its that simple? worth a look maybe.

Welcome to the forum,
search for Busters guides they are great...I took mine off when replacing a HS and a swivel...search for my write up as well...you need to ensure the half shaft is on the correct place to get the circlip etc back on correctly

Thanks for the help managed to get sorted in the end.

It turned out to be the brass ring at the back of the stub axle. The new one they gave me with the new stub axle appeared to be slightly bigger so it wouldnt engage with the cv properly. All i did was replace the new brass ring with the old one and everything went back on lovely.
