hi guys had an starting issue with the RR for a while as i've posted about previously. and over the last week after driving i have had a very strong smell of fuel under the bonnet, anyway took into my local garage last week and they checked everything, and found no fuel leaks but the small was still evident. the car has LPG fitted too, so yesterday i pulled the fuse on the LPG system and took the car for a run on petrol. anyway still had a fuel smell when warm.
next stage this morning i disconnected the electrical connector to the fuel vapour valve (
WTV000040) and bingo no fuel smell, so it's either the valve or the pipe from the valve to the throttle body. is there anyway to test the valve?

According to the on-line manual the EVAP gubbins are attached to the fuel tank.
But you can see 2 lines going forward which must hook up to the purge valve under the bonnet on left sid, I presume this is where you found it?
If you click on NEXT PAGE of the online manual it mentions fault codes can be logged if system inop, and also say's you may experience stalling/poor starting.
No idea on testing I'm afraid.

Manual shows 3 lines there are only 2, 1 is for nas models, but yes on left side there is a vapour pipe, the valve is on the front of the engine, then pipe feeds upto throttle body. Checked a BMW site and only test is to see if the valve vibrates it's working. However unplugged no fuel vapour smell with engine at operating temp, but I do get a fault code. Plugged it back in, cleared the code valve is vibrating, but they do go intermittent, at the moment it seems no fuel vapour smell either. So it's going to be a see what happens now. Could have been a dodgy connection.

Hopefully just a connection problem then.
I'm not sure sticking 12v into the valve is advisable, not everything runs at 12v. It's controlled by a PWM but as to the max volts I have no idea.
Hopefully someone who has had this experience chimes in at some point.

I’ve had error code P0443. EVAP purge valve on my OBD2 after the engine cut out and idle is poor. Took about an inch to 2 inches of pressing accelerator down before RR moved.

Was it easy to locate?

I've absolutely no idea, I must have been on a google spree trying to impress with false wisdom.
It's all on the N/S, Ooooh, I feel faint..............

(Damn, I've been exposed, where's the exit):p
