…..and another woe
In bolting the bell housing back to the engine on of the studs has pulled out.
Any advice on how to address without pulling the whole engine out again.
It is fortunately one of the more accessible ones but surprisingly this is not something I’ve had to deal with so would welcome advice.

Helicoil it.
It will mean the hole in the bellhousing will then be slightly larger but I can't see just one being oversize will make any difference.

You could consider tapping to the next size up, but you then have one odd sized stud which you may have to make from threaded rod.

or say fuckit as theres already a lot of fastners securing the bellhousing halfs togther & its a hangover from 1940's designs where there was never enough bolts used (or studs & nuts;))

I'd say it's a low-priority repair and can wait if you're not in a hurry:)

modern engines can have 4 bolts connecting engine & gearbox & use dowels (cannot remember if LR used dowels:oops:)

also, it's not uncommon for harder to access fastners to get 'forgotten' in garages without the owners ever finding out / no noticable problems:D

So I’m not hearing anything to stress me out so I’m thinking tapping in an oversize stud sounds like the answer. Thanks fo the responses
 
It’s prob not worth the effort , won’t do any harm as is , you will,need to remove gbox if you did want to helicon it
 
Fk that waste of time and effort to repair that, there's more that enough bolts to secure it.
Delete photo and put the tools back in the box...Open a cold one and do somit else. :)
