Hi to all Landy enthusiasts!
I recently brought a 1955 Series 1- i love her! I had a SIII 10 years ago and loved it, it's taken me this long to save up for a replacement!
I've been reading a few posts on here and i wonder if anyone knows definatively whether or not it is legal to use it with the screen folded down.
I love it stripped down - so do the kids. They are now officially THE coolest kids in their school.
I'm also pretty sure that having no seat belts means that i can't get busted for not wearing one - that's right i hope!

I only use it for pootling around- a couple of miles from my house on small back roads.

It's an amazing to think that most kids these days think that a 911 is cool- but give them a ride in a Series 1 Landy and their whole perception of cool changes :)

Look forward to hearing back from you.

aye piccies ! i think yer ok if its say a series, as its intended use it to be folded down, like you can drive with the door tops off , no seat belts , i also understand you can MOT a series with a busted windscreen if its folded down at the time of the test, as with the washer jets and wipers. i kno this is true of a light weight, not 100% on the ser1 tho,

If ya car fails a test on a cracked screen take it round the corner put a blanket or somethings on the bonnet to protect it then kick the fooker out from inside. It will pass without a screen. On the series1 front should be fine as has already been stated it was designed to be driven when required with the screen down just watch out for bumble bees, dont half make a crack on a bike helmet so bound to hurt if ya get one in the eye lol :D

Cheers for that. I can carry on smiling without worrying about getting busted!
Bees... yes these MUST be avoided at all costs! Pigeons... get ready to duck!
I've found the best speed is 40mph - best to let the traffic behind to pass from time-to-time.
Tried to get a piccie on my profile... not appearing from some reason i'll keep trying.

Yoh Spongebob & Wesley,

Both Landy's looking good! Cheers for avatar tip Sponge - it was drivin me nuts!
Yes Wes, she's an 86''. I've not had her long. She's not that pretty but very original, which is more important to me. The chap who owned her before me had her for 19 years and treated her like a queen.
Is p*ssin it down with rain here in Suffolk, she'll be tucked up under her tarp! On the upside after rain comes mud!! :)

No problem L&D, I had done exactly the same! was waitin for days and thinkin cant possibly take this long to update the picture, checked me profile and there it was a massive pic of the landy. Am just waiting for floor plates for mine then al be out and about. Will have to have a blast with the roof off as well. Ive just bought a full hard top for it off ebay so the truck cab will be coming off anyway. get some more pics up of the series one. all be putting more on of Spongebob (cos its yellow and square) when i'm out and about and can take some more pics.

cheers

Since when is a folding windscreen a opening windscreen?

If there is no screen in front of you a MOT Tester can't fail it because there is no cracks or anything... Because the view infront is clear!

Opening Windscreen is more than likely refering to things like American Hot Rods where you can open the screen in a very similar way to the Bulkhead flaps.

ah said about the screen before, best way fer a pass is drop it if its cracked , same as a rear window, stick some plywood over it , still a pass !

Umm... was flicking thro LRO magazine earlier and on P.81 (i think) there's a picture of a S1 on the road with its doors off. I thought this was a no no? Or maybe it's an old photo?
Struth.. if this is legal too i'll soon be down to the chassis!
Anyone know?
