took my car in for a possible part exchange valuation against a newer one, needless to say i was disgusted at the price they offered.

the Vehicle is a 1999 T reg Land Rover Defender TD5 in blue, body coloured roof and spats. Black chequr plate sills, corners and wing tops, A bar, Driving lamps ect. Service history upto date. 80k new upgraded suspension, SS exhaust system, power chip, itg filter, allisprot intercooler ect ect. brand new 265 75/16 bf goodies on new wite 8 spok rims all round. its very clean and tidy and wants for nothing except an air freshener. 10 mnt MOT 6 mnt tax.

now i know it is getting "old" and its not exactly standard but i was kind of expecting a figure arround the £5000 mark or more. we all know what kind of money it will sell for but the cheeky A Holes are offering £3500 for her.

now i am sure someone is going to make some money out of it for that kind of price but that is down right rude! shame on you once again STRATSTONES. probably the worst Landrover dealer in the world.:mad::mad::mad:

ffs you carnt get a decent ex MOD 2. 1/4 NA for that. with its bullet holes and dipleated uranium rounds in the spare tyre. NOT A HAPPY CHAPPY!

I will be keeping it then!:D

FFS when are people gonna wake up the bottom has fallen out of the used 4x4 Market you'll be lucky to get £4k for it in a private sale a dealer would be looking to get £5k for it on a forecourt. So they ain't gonna offer you £5K and take a loss on it are they. My mate brought a 98 300tdi auto in good knick for £1600 last month. disco's aint worth **** anymore. the market is awash with em. Yes I know someone will tell me they got £6k for their S or T reg TD5 a couple of months ago. but you were a lucky sod and you sold it to an idiot because if they'd looked around they have got one for half the price.

hmm, thanks for your opinion redhand, obviously you follow the market of used cars like a whipet. i would agree with the disco theroy but not the defender. as to your friend, seems like he got a very unusual deal @£1600 seems he is the lucky sod.

i do hope the introduction of this new model defender will drop the price down, but as Stratstone are offering a well used X reg black defender td5 25k with no mud flaps, added rust and part worn remolds for £17998 i doubt very much they would offer a tidyier vehicle for £5k.

maybe i should take you with me shopping.

thanks again people.

Dunt ferget that the motor trade always under value your vehicle on a trade-in. The only time you get a decent trade-in deal is if you have an absolute nail (like my old Vectra) worth a couple a hundred quid and they have a guaranteed £1000 PX deal. But then you can't pay the balance in cash, you have to take their rip-orf finance deal into the bargain...

Have a look on the brightwells auction site they show the results of their previous auction makes for interesting reading.

Depends, if it's the original Tickford Station Wagon, there's only about a dozen of 'em still running and are worth a fortune. The rest depends on loads of stuff, but anything from £1500 - £15k

What were the Tickfords for anyway, delivering bread. I am going to get a Series one though

Here you are I think you got the price wrong on the stratstones one are you sure it didn't say £7998 http://www.landyzone.co.uk/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=554 Oh and prices have dropped since this was advertised.

This is autotraders latest offerings Buy a used LAND ROVER DEFENDER - Auto Trader UK rather high mileage models I know but still well below the £17k you seem to think yours is worth.

yes , i had a look on auto traader, thanks for the tip, lots of nice landys to choose from. i still seems to me that you will struggle to get a TD5 with average milage for under £5000. they seem to hover arround the £6000 - £6500 mark. i still think £3500 for my vehicle is too low so i will be keeping it.

so you dont think £17980 for a 25K 04 plate with offroad damage, rust, part worn remolds and some service history is a bargain??? something tells me they wont be getting rid of that very quickly.

thanks again
