Lucky, ice can be rock hard, that bumper does look pretty serious thoughNo steering guard, no damage... Think the diffs and the bumper took most of the flak.
got a video on facebook, but dont know how to show it on here. Dont have youtube.

Looks like a fantastic lane to drive. My mate had recommended this to me and I was considering it one day next week however, after reading about it on here, I think I'll give it a miss!
I've got no mods to my car, it's pretty much as it was bought, and it sounds like the car wouldn't make it through the ford crossings and such without a snorkel and AT tyres - what a bummer!
Don't suppose anyone knows of any other less hardcore lanes around this area?
I've driven Strata florida many times in a standard 88" SIII on AT tyres. There was a pool of water near the top of the pass which was close to bonnet height but it's been drained now. After heavy rain a raised air intake would be necessary for the river crossings though, and also experience and extreme caution as it can be very dangerous - there was a nasty accident up there about a year ago and a girl died.
I was up there new years day last year. Not recommended unless your fully prepared! A standard front end of a defender would not have made it. The river was iced over by 6-7" so all the fords had to be smashed through with my ARB bumper. it dropped to -9 overnight to. those little slopes along the way? sheet ice. all the puddles? ice, all the fords? ice. brakes? frozen. tyres? to the ground.
a truely epic 2 days across that lane. then we headed north and ice skated on the lakes in Snowdonia! will look for some pics.
