I have a 3L derv engine when I put my toe down and then let it off quickly there is a strange whooshing sort of whistling noise coming from the front right hand side any ideas?
its an 02 reg.
 
there has been the odd time when kick down seems sluggish and the power seems down other times its fine oh and she is using coolent had new water pump on thought the problem was there rad is fine.
 
Split hose or loose connection onto the inter cooler. Mine had the same problem, it ended up blowing the hose off completely and the car went into limp mode.


You sure your rad is fine ? Mine was loosing water but with no signs of drips. The rad was leaking slowly once the car has warmed up and it would evaporate without leaving any water on the floor.

The leak was obvious Once I removed the old rad.

Easy to change and pretty cheap. I'd put my money on your leaking rad as there common to leak !
 
had the same thing on my P38....
hose clip loose... ended up replacing them all on the turbo... only cost a few £...
 
I had a similar issue with my 2003 TD6 the other week. An extra bit of wooshing sound and slight loss of general oooomphhh... In my case it was a failed electronic valve on the EGR circuit - found when plugging into diags.. Changed the valve (about £50) and then perfect again.
 
Took the cozzie out today. I had a whooshing sound does that count?

My son did fit a Dump valve to his diesel VW sounded quite good infact. Apparently ladies skirts just fall off.

Not unless it was fitted with a throttle valve he didn't. :D:D

Wammers the boy has done so much it's incredible. He got the car bug early as we showed cars in the 80/90/& 00s he came to shows and now shows his all over Europe. Still borrows my tools though.

I don't know the throttle arrangement of the VW in question. But a dump valve cannot function unless a throttle valve is fitted. Most diesels don't have throttle valves.

unless you get one of those new fandangled electric dump valves for dervs that have appeared on the market, I wonder if 2.0 hippo will get one for his l322 :D:D:D:D(sorry ellis I couldn't resist)
