Hi everyone,

Just bought my first discovery 300tdi with a full years MOT. However, on the drive home I noticed that when I steer left at low speed it makes a strange whining noise. This only happens a low speed less than 10MPH and only going left. PAS fluid looks OK and it steers OK any ideas?

I also pulled back the rear boot carpet and found some rust at the front of the floor pan, well a big hole actually, near the rear seat mounts. They also have a little rust on them. Do you think a welded patch or new floor?

I guess there will be plenty more surprises down the line but still enjoying it.

Apologies I put this in the wrong thread earlier today and not sure how to delete it.

Thanks in advance.

Boot floor:- - IMHO, depends on how long you intend keeping it.. if a while, then do the floor, and if you have sunroofs, make sure the drains are in good working order.....

"your" noise could be anything from CV joint or a dust shield rubbing - need a bit more info, and you should probably have a look and see what you can find - some good vids on youtube for issues with front hubs. IIRC, land rover toolbox videos are pretty good ........

Thanks. Yes I was planning to keep it a while and it's going to live in the garage so hopefully not growing to get too wet in the future. I have only had it a few days but the sunroofs look like they have been sealed shut I guess this is why!
Cheers
