Hi all,

I have an leak (or two) from the front end of my Freelander MK1 (see pictures) and I'm unsure as to where it is coming from and hoped you may be able to offer some advice.

The oil leak is clear & not smelly (not transmission I presume) & is from the front offside forward of the oil filter I think.

The grease is from the forward end of the front propshaft (IRD?).

The engine oil & power steering fluid levels do not seem to have gone down at all.

Thank for you advice.

Ps fluid is red, engine oil goes black very quickly, brake fluid is clearish but not likely to be in that location. Could it be spilled new engine oil?

Could it be spilled new engine oil?

Thanks for the reply Nodge68. Are you saying have I spilt any oil or fluid? If so then no. The last time I topped up the PS fluid was approximately two months ago. As for engine oil, probably six months ago. I'll have a look again as I've jet washed that area to see what happens.

All levels seem to be fine but there is a distinct patch of oil every time I stop. I'm worried as I don't know its origin.

if it looks like this under there

it is either the oil pump to engine gasket or a washer that goes where that big nut on the oil pipe is, mine has been like that since I own it (5 years), if it doesn't go worse let it be
