Hi guys. I have a 2004 freelander face-lift td4 . I have a strange electrical problem I have a clicking noise from the centre of the dash under cup holder area. It sounds like some sort of relay but when it does this I have no speedo rev counter fuel temp heater radio windows working I put a diagnostic and cleared stored faults it still does it. Any help would be much appreciated

Best to ask in the Freelander section.

I wonder if the clicking is due to the power shorting out and constantly switching on/off. Does it do it with the engine off or running? Will the engine start?

There's some relays under the steering wheel in the fuse box. I wonder if you can hear the relays in the fuse box under the bonnet near the windscreen on the battery side. From inside may sound as if they're under the dash.

The engine starts fine it drives fine central locking is fine bar the fact I have no dash clocks radio or fan.

It is definitely under the cup holder area and almost feel it when touching the dash. I'm very confused

never easy to find but if you can down load wiring diagram from somewhere, sure some-one has a link then you might be able to follow though system to see if bits with the problem use the same earth and might be able to work out where it is sorry can not be more help

THANK you for your help I'll have to take a look when the weather picks up a bit

I have had a look at the wireing and could not find anything. After a short while it then failed to start.
I towed to my local independent landrover specialist (Rockingham Landrover near Corby). Told me to leave there and see what they could do. Amazing people they fixed it. No more problems. Now just need to fix my gear selector, ird and prop

Do you have a landy?

One proper 1985 with heavy modified and a 32 valve quad cam v8
A ****box RV8 as well.

I’m sure you and your Gaylander will be very happy together.

Seasons greetings
