new pulleys fitted crank pulley and one other but got a strange burning smell from engine when put foot down then it goes leave car for awhile drive again and smell returns but not there all the time has anyone got any ideas what could cause this fanks in advance

Double check to see that you got the belt correctly seated on the pulleys. The grooved ones have an outer flange. If you've got the belt with its lip over one of those flanges, it'll go round and do all of its belt stuff, right up to the time when the lip has cut the edge off the belt

Checked the belt and seems all ok fitted properly it doesn’t smell of burning all the time it seems to be if u accelerate hard then after a little while the smell goes

Sounds like a slipping belt giving in when under pressure

Well it's a new belt just been fitted and checked was fitted right as per eairler post seemed all tight then but will keep an eye on it

Trouble is even new stuff properly installed is no guarantee of it working right,is it worse when the raids are wet? Maybe water getting up there and slipping it
