Hi everyone,
I am about to buy a 2010 Discovery 4 HSE and wanted to know if anyone has either the Stoplock Pro or Stoplock Pro Elite steering wheel lock on their car.

I’ve looked at the specs and it sounds like either will fit.

Is that correct?

Is the Pro Elite any better than the Pro?

I’d love to hear back if you have any experience with either.

Many thanks!

I have a Stoplock Pro on the Jaguar F-Pace but a Stoplock Pro Elite on the Discovery 2. The Elite has a deeper curve to allow for wider/deeper steering wheels and airbags. Unless someone here has one or other on a D4 then I suggest you try and borrow one or the other (or both) from a friend to try them to be sure they do fit. Whereabouts are you?

Hi and thanks,
I’m in Birmingham B13.

I’m getting the car sometime tomorrow (Saturday) and wanted to pop over to Halfords afterwards to buy one.

According to the specs, either should fit, but I was hoping that someone on here has one (or the other) already on their D4.

Not far. I'm in Bromsgrove if you want to pop over and try the Stoplock Pro, but the D2 is in the garage at the moment so I don't have the Elite for you to try. I should have it back middle of next week (assuming nothing untoward is discovered in the meantime), or I could try and retrieve it from the garage for you this afternoon.

Hi and thank you so much for your offer.
Can I come back to you on this, once I have the keys in my hand?

Cheers

Of course. I'll see if I can get the other one back from the garage anyway just in case.

Congrats on ur new upcoming purchase

hope u don’t mind me asking but how did u get on Insuring the D4 , did u have to search around for a quote and was it very expensive plse seeing Land Rover premiums are going through the roof

at least urs is too early for keyless entry so a big bonus in not having it

have seen many also add a ghost alarm system plus a good warranty which includes the crankshaft

Hi and thanks!

Insurance 🤔, well, let me tell you:
ALWAYS shop around.

When you do choose one, make sure you set “Auto renewal” to NO.
(They say it’s for your convenience, but it’s actually so that they can fleece you next time round!)

Don’t just use 1 comparison website.

I did exactly the same quote with goCompare, comparethemarket, and moneysupermarket. The cheapest quote I kept getting was from the same company.
HOWEVER, using goCompare it was actually £30 cheaper!!!???

Now, my D4 (hopefully getting it delivered tomorrow (Saturday)

Positives:
I’m 63 and have full NCB.
I’m retired.

Negatives:
I live in Birmingham.
“It’s a Land Rover”

If I were to insure to drive it on the same day, the insurance came out at £2,300

If I say I want the insurance to start from 21 days ahead, it comes out at £1,700 (Tesco)

£500 difference 😵‍💫

As we have another car, I’m happy to have it on the driveway and keep the £500 (GAP IID tool plus the best part of a tank of fuel)

No brainer there!

I hope this helps!

Wow,
Your insurance is really cheap 😫
Yes, I’ll definitely post pictures of the new (old) car!

I’ve had several Land Rovers in the past.
(2 x Classics, an L323 and an Evoque), but this is the first time for me with a D4.

I’m sure I’ll be on here regularly, with lots of “how do I..” and “What’s this button…” questions 😂

Our insurance a month is £102 for me and the mad women, saying that we shopped around and got it down to £60 a month but we have all the bells and whistles extras on the insurance...

It is a Discovery after all.

Congrats on the new purchase also you'll love the thing as they become part of your lifestyle.

saying that my premiums were normally around £500 each year, but then in October 23 it all changed when my renewal came in at just over £1200

that was with A plan, rang them and said that many of there underwriters wouldn’t insure Land Rover anymore , particularly due to the ever increasing keyless entry thefts , then on confused .com found Hastings and selected 21 x days which as mentioned seems to be the sweet spot and with the extras came in just over £500 , the offer expired that evening from Hastings so selected it straight away in order to not loose the deal

must confess I’ve never owner a FFRR but maybe one day , my dream landy would be a petrol 5.0 N/A D4 , insurance wise they come out around £1200 per year , gulp

many thks and look forward to that ref some piccies plse

ur find This forum full of extremely knowledgeable members who will go out there way to help so indeed plse feel free to never be afraid to ask questions even if u think there daft ones , I’m always asking them, lol

Might be worth trying NFU Mutual, they're not on comparison sites. They're a bit fussy on who they take at times but I think they still give introductory NCD if you've got a clean record. I've just noticed you're in Birmingham, I'm not so sure now, but it's only a tel call to some of the local offices.

Hi Keith,
Just wanted to drop you a quick message to let you know that when I was test driving my new (well, 2010) D4 yesterday, I swung by Halfords and they let me try them beforehand. I bought the Stoplock Pro as it was less bulky and fits perfectly.

Thanks for offering to show me your ones 👍

No problem. Enjoy your new car. How about some photos?
Yes,
I’m planning to upload photos but it’s a really dull day today.

I’ll give it a good wash and polish in the week and post them 👍
