Cheers. Had the insurance assessor round yesterday, he was an ex policeman who's going round to all NFU claim to verify that everything's above board. he told me that he's never been busier in the midland with farm / rural based thefts, it's at epidemic proportions.

it's thought that there is an organised gang stealing stuff, probably for export. a friend of mine who has an export business had his 03 plate scania stolen monday night from cheadle, that was loaded up with gear ready to deliver to the docks, some nissan cabstars, a daf lorry and two wilson 70kva generators. nicking that sort of stuff suggests the thieves have export buyers lined up.

As for the area not being a hot bed of theft, the police have found a load of stolen plant and farm machinery hidden at a farm on top of the weaver hills. sadly no landrovers though.

Wow... I feel i bit naive with my comfort of the safety of the area now.

I've just had about 25 pikies turn up in the field at the end of my village (burton way) so am busy blocking in the landie and securing the shed.:(

If they are that close they most likely won't bother unless they have a lockup somewhere that they can hide vehicles in, reason being if they did pinch it the first place you would look would be at their camp to see if you could see it, and if you did you would get in contact with the plod to say you have seen it on a pikey camp, wether the plod will get of there asses and do anything is another matter altogether.

I was more concerned about its appeal for being used as a convenient door opener for local shops...

And even more concerned over the stuff in the shed - slightly harder to prove anything if they go walkies... they will probably be moving inside for a few weeks
