Gutted for you. I saw this on FB. Shared to the 90/110 Owners club. Hope it’s recovered safely and those responsible are caught.

Terrible news can’t imagine your pain, will keep an eye out for you and hope it’s recovered safely. Out of interest did you have any/what security devices fitted? Would be helpful to guide other owners on those that do/dont work

Thank you. He just had a pedal box unfortunately

"Towed away by an unknown vehicle"

Probably with pedal box still attached. A lot of thefts at the moment, several every night looking at Landywatch.

Hope it's recovered intact, but the longer it's missing the less chance sadly

lightning you seem a knowledgable bloke what’s your opinion on the best way to stop a landy being towed? I’m fairly confident they would think twice about trying to drive mine But want to improve against chances of being towed? Anything other than optimil swivel lock and a big old centaur wheel clamp?

There's two problems with theft:
1. making it more difficult to take
2. making it easier to get it back

Item 2 requires etching the windows and fitting a tracking device.

Park with the steering on full lock, and park so it's more difficult to tow away. Front wheels turned to the curb, facing a gate post etc or so there's no direct route to tow it away.
Fit a tracking device.
Leave it in gear.
Modify the alarm so it can't be disabled by removing the headlight or shorting out the indicator lamps.
Fit a full coverage pedal lock.
It's all you can do, if you do all that and it still gets stolen then nothing would have stopped them.

Add a disclok or take the wheel off (detachable wheel boss) , after turning wheels into curb, and a real old school non electronic alarm, and make sure your neighbours know it will never ever be collected on a trailer or by a garage ever, no matter what ,if you aren't with it.

Absolutely, one was stolen round the corner from us, the thieves turned up in broad daylight with a flatbed recovery truck, orange lights flashing and everything, and just winched it on the back.
Nobody challenged them as it looked like a standard breakdown recovery.

Number of years ago someone put up cctv pic's of their D2 winched onto a recovery truck and nicked. Middle of the day anorl.

I suppose a massive wheel lock like the bulldog centaur 2500 will at least make a bit of noise as they winch it on but living in a flat (gated car park) I don’t hold out on any of the neighbours raising suspicions

I not you said it was an unknown car but do you know anything anything about the towing vehicle colour? 4x4 I presume? As much detail as possible, any cctv of the surrounding area?

The registration of the recovery vehicle l mentioned above was taken from CCTV and it came back as a Nissan Micra

My mate had a very nice 05 plate Defender. He had a pedal box cover, steering wheel disc lock and a tracker fitted. Despite driving Landies on and off for decades, he sold it. He sold it because he couldn't sleep at night worrying about it getting nicked. He had a S3 nicked years ago. That one hurt more because it was his deceased dad's old Landy.
Now he drives some modern 2wd Ford crap. And of course we don't take the mick at all...

l used to worry about theft all the time, eventually we sold our Defender 90.

But l've decided to keep the 110 and stop worrying about it. lt's got security fitted.

lf it does go l won't get another. But l am not selling it.

Agreed, If it goes, it goes. It’s insured for the full value all about making the b@$+@%£s life’s as difficult as possible in the meantime
