My Landrover was stolen last night from on the street outside the house here in West London. It's a bog standard 300Tdi 110 CSW, dark green with white roof. Reg M157MRW. It has a slightly bent front bumper with a patch of white wall paint on one end (can't remember which end!). Would be very grateful to hear if anyone sees it. You can contact me via this site. Did you have any extra security in place on the truck when it was pinched?
 
Thanks, Party Monkey, for your help. I live in hope but everyone is telling me that Defenders are being stolen to order nowadays so not very happy. Bought it new in 1995 and have looked after it. It used have an immobiliser and alarm as well as a steering lock but the alarm and immobiliser died and, foolishly, I thought no one would want a 17 year old Landy. How wrong I was.
 
So was the steering wheel lock still in place? Or did it just have nothing?

The vehicle's steering lock was still engaged. What I meant was that I hadn't put on the aftermarket lock that you can fix between the footbrake and the steering wheel.
 
RECOVERED. The police recovered my land Rover from a farm in Surrey last week. I was told by the recovery firm that it was found with several other land Rovers in the process of being shipped to Poland. According to the police, it was taken in order to steal heavy plant from a building site. It's not badly damaged by the looks of it but the thieves tore out the radio (damaging the housing in the process), the speakers and broke the aerial; a small price to pay for getting it back. They also fitted mudplugger tyres with big rims. Anyway, here's one happy bunny who's off to look at security. I hope other people have the same good fortune with their stolen Land Rovers.

Sometimes I wonder if I'd rather have it back or the insurance pay out. You buy a great vehicle and look after it well. Some **** steals it and rips the arse out of it for a few weeks and you get it back sounding like a bag of spanners. I hope that wasn't the case here, but it's been a personal experience of my own.

A result of sorts getting a new set of tyres I suppose?
A pal of mine had an MG roadster stolen. It was found on a lorry bound for the continent. When he got it back it had a new hood, new carpets, new wheels and tyres!
 
if i got my 200tdi nicked... do you think it could be arranged to come back to me looking more like an evoque? :rolleyes:
 
Thanks for all your posts and I wish you all the same result, that I've had, should you have the misfortune to have your landy nicked. Finally persuaded the insurance company to let me have it back and it's now sitting outside with new tyres, new rims, new radio and a really good respray. This is one very chuffed person!! The thieves only did less than a hundred miles before it was recovered but that hundred miles must have been off-road because it had a few dings and scrapes; nothing that would have bothered me but the insurance company's approved repairer (Citroen body shop, would you believe?) put in the repair estimate and it was approved. I am not looking forward to the renewal notice in May! And yes, toxictoes, it was a gang and I think they may have been recently sentenced.
