Yes I know bad title……

Anyway was sorting my spare heater box distribution stiffness today, and figured out it was just the top two that do the dash vents & screen. After removing only that gear the distribution gears moved freely again. Problem is even after taking the box apart & removing the square shaft the flaps are still tight in the housing. It definitely where the end of the flaps spin in the box housing because they have rubber edges so they cannot stick.

Has anyone figured out how to remove them ? Will post a pic tomorrow to show where I mean.

Plan-b is to remove the gear & leave then in mid position, so the motor can still operate the footwell flaps as they move easily using a 9V battery on the motor.

Wasn't one solution à screw somewhere in the casing to open the casing a little? 🤔 Could be wrong... Pictures please ☺️

EightinaV had a mod in the archive using a self tapping screw to stop the binding. I have not spelt the name right

No not the self-tapping screw mod. That's to spread the front section slightly, and helps free up the footwell flaps.

In my case, it's the top flaps that control the screen & vent airflow. I removed the rod linking the two flaps together, and the gear that engages with the motor gear. After this, the motor operates the lower flaps easily. The top two are still stiff to move.
I want to get them out & smooth out the housing where the plastic spindles sit, but cannot see how they come out, or how Valeo put them in at assembly ?? That section of the housing is one moulding (no screws or clips).

Does it come out by splitting the casing?
Is there a pin or clip on the inner side? 🤔

Nope, that part of the casing seems to be one piece. The only split is in the centre of the two main halves - see the clip in this picture.

Those two halves come apart. Pretty sure I had mine apart when I had the dash out. I cannot recall what it looks like now but maybe the shafts come out from the centre?
