Guy needs help - is in Sterling, 300 miles from home with no tools and the engine won't start. Can anyone offer assistance. I don't think there is any immediate hurry as he is on honeymoon 😀.

However it is distracting him from his missus, so can anyone that knows about TD5 please help get him, erm the defender, started?

Have txtd Biggee and alipod.

Stewart Hall - "Right no alarm fob, all the gauges work engine management lights and glow plug light come on,think the fuel pump sounds, if I put the key in and turn it it tries to fire for about a second then stops, if I try again without nothing then take the key out and put it in again and it try's to fire but then immediately stops, I have no signal on my phone,no food no tools only wifi and if I'm honest I'm ****ting myself as we are 320mile from home."

The place they are at is like a private villa called glengyle mcgregor right at the side of lock katrine there is no pay phone only a internal phone for incoming calls only the nearest town is a 20 minute drive.

"I've tried letting it cool down, checked the red Ecu connecter for oil tried to start it in gear but every time no joy.."

has he tried giving it some poke when cranking her over for a bit?

might waste some time when waiting for someone to help with the landy

i'm 2 hours away . but all i could offer would be a tow as i know nothing about td5's . has he got breakdown cover ?

im 31/2 away, dont mind going and have td5 diagnostics, but would cost around £100 in fuel,

has breakdown cover with his bank apparently

I think a few of the guys on the Scottish Land Rover owners page are helping him out, one is just along the road from him.

My 300tdi had similar symptoms and it took ages to work out what it was.
Bad earth!
Overcome it by putting a jump lead between engine block and negative terminal.
