Hi, lurker turning newbie here.
A question, my 2005 td4 freelander (original) stereo system speakers aren't working on the driverside. There wouldn't happen to be an easy fix on this, i.e. that could be a common fault? Or will I have to take off all the panelling? Or (miracle) am I missing some button somewhere that controls driverside and passenger speakers?

Nahh, it's probably buggered... mine went too (still not fixed it)...

You get water ingress behind the mirror and it runs down the wires and knackers the speaker electrics.

Dead easy job to fix though... unscrew the screws holding the panel on (under the pocket, behind the pull-handle, one in each end of the big handle and one behind the black "knob" in the drink holding strap.) The panel then just pulls off and you have access to the speaker.

I'm going to replace mine with some decent Pioneer ones or similar, when i get round to it... too many other jobs on the fecking thing at the moment though!

If your balance isn't set toally to the left, check the connections behind the little plastic panel near the door frame at the front. Need to remove step-trim to get it off, but it may just be that the connector has come undone... although I doubt it, they're clipped to the A frame.

Just a thought - is your stereo set to one side (like a fader??)

This has ocurred to me (I am capable of being that ignorant). At present I can fade beteen rear and front speakers but have found no control of right to left. Does it exist?
Anything's possible, I'm the one who took the car in to complain that the rear demister didn't work only to find out that I was turning on the foglights!!!
