I have a discovery 2 with the harman karden upgrade. I drove an identical vehicle at the weekend and noticed that mine is lacking bass all the speakers are working fadeing and changeing the balance doesnt help just seems to be no bass?

does the rear door amp/speakers work ? that makes a huge difference to the sound. there is an after market lead that plugs into the 'spare' plug behind the sterio that makes the rear door amp/speakers work. you might have a button on the sterio that you need to press to turn the sterio amp on, i found this out by mistake after fitting, refitting, checking and refitting the spare plug lead. i lost me temper shoved the sterio hard and accidently caught the said button that switched the amp on and powering up the rear door amp. boy what a difference it makes !

Thanks for reply there is sound comeing from the rear door but it isnt produceing no where near the bass of the other one or even my parents range rover which has the harman karden speakers ill go av a look for that button now cheers

ive adjusted both bass and treble to max and min but still cant get the sound the same as ive heard in two other discos think yet another trip back to the dealer is in order

Ok i went for the easy one first, there is an amplifier at the rear of the speakers which is powered from the head unit, two supplies one is permanant, the other is the amp switching on/off.
So maybe a plug has come adrift at the rear of the head unit and looking at a D1 wiring diagram there are two fuses F3 and F6 so check yours are ok where ever they are.
Could be the speakers/amp are faulty so a few things to check out.

The Hi-Line unit has a spatial sound facility which might be turned off.

To check, press the button with a 'music note' on it 5 times, dispay will read either SS on or off, use the volume control to select.

Apologies if you've already tried it!

I was going to say spatial as well, not sure what it is though,

another question though for you on this same stereo, can you fast forward tracks on the CD?

with the cd playing press the man button in between the arrow select buttons that will allow you to fast forward

just bin and tried the music button with no luck it just took me thru the bass treable etc looks like the headunit is comeing out something to look forward too

Just a thought, isn't there something related under the passenger seat, I'm sure mine has a Alpine Amp.Might be wrong though.
