Hi all

Im having a few issues with my stereo and cigarette lighter, main problem being that my stereo wont turn on and my cigarette lighter wont charge my phone.

The stereo will not switch on, checked the fuse and its fine anyone got any ideas?

The cigarette lighters fuse is also fine and the light around the cigarette lighter will light up but it just wont charge anything

Anyone got any ideas?

Remove the radio and panel where your cig lighter is and carefully look at the wires, it's common for people to fit aftermarket stereos and brake into the cig lighter's positive feed wire. First make sure that it's earthed cleanly and the connections are as they should be. The illumination on a cig lighter has a separate feed so you would expect that to light up. If you have access to a voltmeter check that you are getting 12volts on the positive feed when the ignition is on. If not once again check the fuse, if that's ok, check that the wire hasn't come loose behind the fuse connection itself and then check the wire for continuity.

Also...some folks fit an inline fuse so have a good look.

depending on what radio it is some have fuses in the back of the radio too

Located in Aberdeen in sunny Scotland! i will check back of stereo and yeah interior light is working

interior light is in the same circuit as the radio so that will indicate if you have power
