Hi Guys

Does anyone know if I could put a defender steering wheel into my series3???

Thanks
Craig

Ask a silly question, get a silly answer .

What do you think?

If you'd have asked "Can I fit the steering wheel from my Starship Enterprise to my Series III?" then it might classify as a reasonable question.

On a more serious note yes you can but it depends on how much work you want to do. I've never done it but it is possible, you may have to build some custom bits etc, I don't know. You might be lucky and be able to do a straight swap but it's unlikely.

Thanks Ed
I'm looking for the easy option, so It'll be a boss of the shelf and an aftermarket steering wheel :)

i think various ones from the austin-rover variety will fit. metros, good old mini's etc.. or you could buy a nice new shiney mountney steering wheel and boss! i saw a series 2 with a austin mini 10 inch wheel on it a few years back! i wouldn't like to have used on a landy, let alone my mini! i guess it eliminates free play somewhat though...

Hey dude!

Dunno what that guy was saying about star trek??

I have a series 2a.
Defender steering wheel fitted straight on.
Very neat fit on the spline.

My mate has a 90 n/a,
He's ****ed off i can have a defender steering wheel and he cant.
Diffrent splines.

Series 2 and 3 ones are the same as defenders.

Carl.

i hav a series 2 and the steering column doesnt have a threaded nut on the top but it has a pinch bolt on the steering wheel, therefore, the defender wheel will not fit a series 2, it may fit a 2a or a 3 ;)

You could always fit one of these monstrosities:

:D

Landrover main dealers only, bargain at £700 real fake tortioseshell and pvc leatherette, must be fitted by dealer @ £125 per hour, should'nt take more than 3 hours to fit. Kit comes complete with matching furry dice, at extra cost. Bargain!!
