Hi everyone
Working through the things to be done on my newly acquired TD6 on an 03 plate.
The steering wheel i's locked in its lowest position and the control up down in out does nothing.
I get the clicking noise from the column when I open the doors but nothing moves.
Looking on the net this seems to be a common problem.
My question is it a straight forward fix by replacing the tilt motor or does it require the steering column removed and either repaired or replaced?.
I can live with it at the moment but if it's a straight forward job like the tilt motor I will do the job sooner.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards Mark

I seam to remember most change the column, but there was something about a replacement nut or worm gear came up sometime ago, others may have more info and experience on later models.

Hi Gold Rover...
To be honest I have never used the memory seats and my car has the cowell round the drivers seat controls missing.another common problem I believe.
Are the memory seats linked to the same electrical circuit?

When my telescoping steering column got stuck in low position, the first thing they tested was the ECU for the memory seats,as yes they are controlled from the same box of tricks.
No harm in trying it.

Weird I mentioned fullfat in this post and it's disappeared.

Will have a go trying the memory seats and report back.
I do hear clicking coming from the steering column area when I open the doors though

Checked my drivers memory seats and nothing seems to happen when I press 1 2 or 3.
The other seat electrics backward and forward up and down work ok

Nothing will happen on memory if nothing set. Bad news is it is looking more like column , as ECU for seats/memory/column controls all of them. So unlikely to be that if rest of it works.

Just checking what the process would be to check to steering tilt motor and does the motor affect the up and down and telescopic movement of the wheel?

Had a look at the seat switch pack and the white connector in the centre with four wires attached was broken in half.
I did read on another forum that connector affected the steering wheel controls ?...
I resoldered the four wires to the white connector but not sure if have corrected them in the right order.
Still no movement though

Would that other forum be post 5 on here

Guys..
Is there anyway of manually testing the two adjustment motors in situ or does the column need to be removed? .
Was wondering if I could remove the steering column shroud and put power to either motor to prove electrical or mechanical fault?
