Hi All

New to this website but has helped me out immensely already from reading past posts.

Just bought my first RR aged 24, its a 2002 4.4 HSE, for a very good price, knowing I'd have to do some work on it.

Straight away had a battery drain, hopefully seemed to have solved this by changing the FSR.

Most recent query that I can't find anything about on the web so here it is. I adjust my steering wheel when I get in the car, start to drive, then the steering wheel will adjust itself back down to the starting position, and continues to do so every 5 minutes or so.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Not heard of that one, what should happen is the steering wheel position is remembered for your key so that when you open it the seat will move to the correct position and then when you turn on the ignition the steering wheel moves to its preset position also so you dot need to move it.
Have you tried resetting both for your key?
Low battery charge can cause all sorts of problems so yours could have got confused at some point. Some people disconnect the auto steering column adjustment to prolong its life as they are destined to fail by setting it I position and pulling the fuse.
Download a copy of rave if you haven't done so already as the preset procedure is in there I believe.
myfirstl322 has been drinking the antifreeze again :)

Haha.
Thanks guys.

Saying that, my dash does say key battery low so that could be it.

How do you reset the keys out of interest?

And is there a fuse that controls just the steering wheel adjustment then?

Thanks again.

Get Rave from here
http://www.landroverresource.com/
It's a must as will some diagnostics fairly soon.
There is a procedure for re syncing a key but not sure if you have to do that if you just change the battery but if you do open up the fob be sure not to lose the insignificant piece of plastic as that's your ID chip without which your key won't turn
There are a couple of sections in Rave, one is a repair manual and the other is an explanation of all the systems and how they interact with each other over the various buses.
I'm away so can't check my Rave but somebody else will help you out o doubt

No single fuse just for the Steering Wheel motor from memory....

I'd be looking at wither the drivers seat switch pack (this is where the Memory ECU is for the seats and steering wheel) and check the connections for dampness....it is in a prime place for rain in through the window, or a careless previous owner with their Latte!

Or check the steering wheel movement joystick switch pack and connections.
