You won't. Because the ball joints will take out any slight discrepancy in the angle of the drop arm, which is the only possible result of an angled steering column.

In my opinion, you would do better on concentrating on getting ball joints with grease nipples, and cutting a small round hole in the inner wing, immediately forward of the steering box bracket, so you can get a grease gun in to grease the drop arm ball joint without removing the wing.

I always do that, if you grease the ball joint, it lasts pretty much for ever. If you are worried about it, you can block the hole with epoxy putty the rest of the time, and knock it out when needed for greasing. In practice, not much stuff comes through the hole, it only needs to be about 3/4 of an inch across to get the tip of the grease gun through.
 
Thank you to everyone that replied to this thread. I had a chance to look at another S3 today (albeit one with a servo, which mine does not have) and I'm relieved to say that the steering column was at a similar angle to that shown in my original photos. I'll be sure to post here again with an update with regards to how the steering ends up once all my fixes are complete. Thanks again.
