morning all,
im having trouble with my 52 plate freelander,
the whole steering rack moves when turning the wheel the clunks when it catches on the bulkhead,
i have replaced the bush which has slowed the movement down but its still moving
so im told my guys by me that brakes freelanders its a common problem but i cant find anything to suggest how to fix it as its throwing my steering out , on normal roads its not to bad but on dual carrigeways or motor ways its lethal constantly over steering to try and get the rack back centred ,
so im hoping maybe someone on here may have had the same problem any advice is very much appreciated
thank you

Steering rack failure was a problem on early production Freelanders, not on 52 plate models.
You need to check the lugs in the bulkhead are secure and tight, the main cylinder should not move. Iirc there are 2 large bolts on the left as you look from the front, then a smaller clip with 2 smaller bolts on the right.
If the whole rack is moving, it has to be these. Other than that the rack had died.
