hi, my mates got a 2000 1.8 petrol freelander , if you put the steering wheel on full lock it seems as if the brakes are on .it only does it on full lock either to the left or the right.any ideas,many thanks.

tell yer mate ta read thru the freelander bit an all will be revealed

Not the brakes Sirrie, its the transmission winding up (controlled by the VC). All part of the design it is. No problem here.

... Unless it does it so bad that the engine struggles, it is likely just to be normal, as occurs in any car with a VCU. It is covered in the manual and has been covered here previously, if you care to search through the forum.

Do a 'tippex test' on your VCU just in case it is knackered.
