So to close this off, and in case it helps another. I gave the steering joints on the rack a good dose of wd40, and low and behold all is well again :), steering lighter and return's to centre, happy days

Hmmm?????

Maybe its not called the rack :) but the joints that come out of the steering box and go through to the steering wheel..

Steering rod is fooked, just replaced mine but before we replaced it we like you sprayed wd40 on it and the steering loosened off and then after a few weeks it started to go heavy.

you can either replace just the two U/J's £10.00 each off ebay or do like i did and replaced the complete rod as i wasn't sure if the rubber joint ( centre ) was goosed aswell £20 off ebay so in total £50 with postage :)

What size tyres do you have? check the preload on the swivels too.
I have just lifed mine 2" and the steering still returns as good as it did before, just put new tyres on, and it still returns.
Only negative effect I have so far is the steering seems to be a tad sharper, just need to get used to it.

So a week or so later, all is still good :), fingers crossed.... Goes in for a service and lubrication etc soon, so will ask them to double check all...

Mine has never returned to centre. I have even changed the steering damper for a heavy duty one which made no difference. It nearly centres but just needs assistance. Its never worried me.

Same here, I fitted a terrafirma RTC damper but still doesn't return all the way- needs a little flick to be dead straight. Not a huge prob tho!
