Evenin' all.
Apologies if this is a dumb question, i've tried to search but not come up with anything obvious. Vehicle is a 1992/3 200tdi 110 hard top with 185k on the clock, used daily, runs sweetly. Usually. Owned her for 16months and will never, ever sell her.
I have a slight steering 'knock': when turning into a corner i hear a knocking noise. It happens most of the time, but not always, and i usually hear it once or twice on a sharp bend (roundabouts etc). It also happens when i park the vehicle and spin the steering, without moving anywhere.
I plan to jack up the front tomorrow and have a fiddle (with the Landy ;)), but was wondering what i should check for?
The following have been mentioned:
CV Joints (not sure how to check for this)
Radius Arm Bushes (look a bit old, admittedly).

The shocks (dampers) and springs were new a couple of months ago, as was the steering damper. The Steering Column UJ's are 12months old and seem fine. The steering box was replaced with a Re-con unit 12months ago. All joints in the steering look ok (track rod ends?) (rubber gaiters all in good condition, and look fairly recent).

I've also got it into my head that i can feel the knock through the floor, but i can't be sure that i haven't imagined this!

I'm driving 500 miles at the weekend towing a trailer and could really do with nothing going wrong.

Any ideas, pointers, help muchly appreciated as i am definitely still learning!

jack up front wheel in turn put in full lock and spin wheel one way then the other if cv you feel it ,check prop ujs too
 
Vheck all e 24mm headed bolts that go through the front and rear radius arms mine were loose

Mornin' all.
Got under the vehicle this morning, and had a play with the radius arms, and track rod ends, all of which seem solid (the track rod ends pivot on the ball joints, but there doesn't seem to be any extra play).
I also jacked each front wheel and spun it whilst on full lock, but couldn't get it to make any nasty noises at all.
After sticking some more grease in the swivels i'm at a loss now. Hmm. Reckon i'll just have to drive it until something falls off

You will have to put a breaker bar and spanner on the 24mm headed bolts as the bolts may be tight but the bushs could be loose between the plates, so tightening bolts nips the plates onto the bush.
