Hello again!

I've given it a go and it won't fit! Please see the below pics. There are two bolts that I have tried attaching it to on the left hand side, both linked to the power steering box. If I put it on the one further back it doesn't go on as it hits the drop link track rod.

If I put it on the one further forward then the front eyes are about 2 inches further towards the front of the chassis than the holes for the jate rings am I supposed to drill through the chassis in this area as I can't believe that is the solution?

Any help appreciated.

Many thanks,

Mark

No drilling is required!!

It should line up with the holes from the original Tie Down Eyes.
(i.e where Jate Rings Would fit)

and bolt that is in top right corner of picture 1. (steering Box bolt)

What Guard is it, it looks almost home made??
Did your mate have it fitted to a Defender or Disco?

Thanks for the pics, it was off a disco, I don't think it was home made but I have no idea of the make. I can't see how I'm finding it so difficult if it is the right one, would one from a disco not fit a defender? Its so close to fitting and looking at your it's almost an identical shape.

Thanks guys, just what I need!:D

I've fitted a new back step, a diff guard and now about to fit steering guard, needed help with all of them! (Although the back step I just didn't have a big enough socket.)

So.... now I need a new tool kit to cope, can anyone recomend a sensibly priced one? My current one was fine when I had an ordinary car, but now I have a proper vehicle it's just not up to it!

know its an oldish thread but disco guard won't fit defender, that's why you've been struggling.

Thanks, I've stopped trying now as I have figured out that it will only fit if I drill through my chassis at a point that I really don't want to, so I'll pass it back to the person I got it from as I think he had someone else lined up for it if I didn't want it, shame but that just gives me reason to get a new one :)

Halfords | Halfords Advanced Professional 150 piece Socket/Ratchet Set

On sale at the moment as well. I've had mine for over a year now and it's great. Comes with a life time guarantee as well. A lot of lads on here will also recommend this.

Quick tip tho. Ask for a copy receipt and Sellotape it inside the lid. Some Halfrayds are now insisting on seeing the receipt before exchanging damaged items.:(
